HISTORY ABOUT PENCH NATIONAL PARK
In the year 1965, it was awarded the status of Sanctury, where as in 1975 it was declared as a National Park. Later in 1992, it was founded as Pench Tiger reserve which is spread in the zone of approximately 758 Sq KM. Pench National Park falls in the mid zone of Tiger reserve with an area of 292.85 Kms, whereas the Mowgli Pench Wildlife Sanctuary is extended on the area of 118.30 sq km. Popular novel written by Rudyard Kipling received inspiration of his wildlife novel "Jungle Book" from the scenic beauty of Pench National Park only.

Indira (Priyadrashini) Pench National Park is also named as Pench National Park and Tiger Reserve situated in southern part of Satpura Hills of Madhya Pradesh state which is centered in the heart of India. Pench is named so on the river Pench that flows across it.
